MATTHEW EDWARDS, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C, RECEIVES 2026 AIA WISCONSIN GOLDEN AWARD

Quorum Architects, Inc. is proud to announce that Matthew Edwards, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C, is the recipient of the 2026 Golden Award from AIA Wisconsin. This award is the organization’s highest individual honor, recognizing Wisconsin’s American Institute of Architects professionals for their exemplary service, leadership, and lasting impact on the architectural profession.
Matthew embodies service in his work, demonstrating his commitment to advancing the architectural profession and architectural professionals in Wisconsin over nearly two decades. He has served as the co-chair of the Emerging Professionals Committee, where he launched an IDP (now AXP) study group and organized educational programs to help individuals pursuing licensure and career development. While serving as Acting President and then later continuing his guidance as Past President of the AIA Milwaukee chapter, Matthew led annual Structures Seminars to further support these efforts and build resources for the organization. From 2013-2015, Matthew served as Director at Large for AIA Wisconsin, which included his work as Director Advisor for the Government Affairs Commission. He continues his service with AIA Wisconsin to this day as an active participant on the Design Awards Committee, where he has played a critical part in recognizing a broader range of contemporary architectural excellence through the introduction of Special Recognition Awards for projects that exemplify innovation in Adaptive Reuse, Community Impact, Historic Preservation, Sustainable Design, and JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion).
As a Principal at Quorum, Matthew is dedicated to championing others, whether the emerging professionals he works with or the clients he serves. His approach to mentorship is both generous and intentional: he opens doors, sets high expectations, and stands firmly behind those he mentors. He entrusts them with opportunity and responsibility, supporting them from the sidelines and ensuring they receive credit for their successes. Matthew’s work centers evidence-based and compassionate design, particularly in the healthcare, wellness services, affordable housing, and community organization sectors. His portfolio includes projects of both local and national significance, including the Urban Ecology Center at Washington Park, Victory Manor at Westlawn Gardens, Rogers Behavioral Health facilities, Vivent Health’s AIDS/HIV care and prevention centers, the Medical College of Wisconsin Center for Cancer Discovery, and adaptive reuse projects like the McKinley School renovation to affordable housing.
Matthew’s passion for architecture extends beyond himself or any single organization. As AIA Wisconsin said, “His career embodies the spirit of the Golden Award through distinguished leadership, selfless service, and an enduring commitment to the future of architecture in Wisconsin.” From all of us at Quorum, we extend our heartfelt congratulations for this well-deserved honor to Matthew Edwards and thank him for his continued service to the architectural profession.
