NORTH AVENUE POCKET PARK
The small pocket park, at the intersection of N 56th street and W North Avenue, was a collaboration between BID 16 and many partners. Taking a City of Milwaukee owned vacant lot and transforming it into a celebrated urban park, Quorum’s vision was to demonstrate that sites and costs can be small yet can make really big impacts. The park elements were all built on site, including custom steel planters, gabion benches, and rolling picnic tables, all within an accessible, and flexible, crushed limestone surface. Plantings are low-maintenance yet provide interest throughout the year and coupled with the lawn space provide a setting for impromptu concerts and gatherings.
